A monument in memory of former comfort women in Seoul, Korea, has been removed.
The reason is that the artist was convicted of indecent assault.
Seven years ago, a monument depicting the names of former comfort women and the girls being taken away was installed in a park in central Seoul to remember the comfort women issue.
However, in August, the artist of the monument was convicted of indecently assaulting a female employee of the Seoul city office, and the city removed the monument on August 5. On the other hand, former comfort women support groups are protesting, saying that this is an act of erasing history.
